NOW is the Time for Christians to…

More Christians are beheaded. More churches burned. More followers of The Way persecuted.

Yes, it is alarming. Yes, it is concerning, even worrisome. Yes, it is mostly a half a world away from me…yet, these are my brothers & sisters. God’s heart. My heart.

This is happening. Now.

and this:

And NOW it is time to do something.

Now is NOT the time for Christians to wring their hands & worry about other Christians, becoming more insular & self-preserving… isolating from others & building up our own stores & arms.

Now is NOT the time for Christians to become more and more self-righteous, confrontational, combative, and condemning… standing up on soapboxes & screaming “doom & gloom!”

Yes, it’s alarming that Christians are being persecuted at a higher rate than ever in history…but the truth is that we should have been expecting it, & we shouldn’t worry because we know that, no matter what happens, God is in control & we will never be alone.

We should have expected this, and we should be prepared to handle it appropriately.

After all, we have an instruction manual.

We know what to do.

And then…Go To Work.

Now IS the time for Christians to realize that we don’t have unlimited time.

Now IS the time to become concerned enough about those who do NOT know Christ as their Savior to do something about it.

Now IS the time to forget ourselves & become more concerned for others.

For their souls. For eternity.

Now IS the time to show them we are Christians by our love.

Now IS the time to go out into the world, to all the nations, and show & speak the truth of the Gospel – the Good News.

Go and make disciples

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
-Matthew 28:18-20

Now IS the time…

To get out of our comfort zones, quit worrying about ourselves…

I know I am guilty…of all the above.

Of getting on my “high horse”…

Of believing “I’m not really equipped for this…”

Of thinking, “someone else is taking care of it…”

Of worrying about my own well-being, my family, my loved ones…

Of choosing comfort and safety over calling…

But here’s the truth:

I am…all Christ-followers are… already “saved” for eternity.

But so many people in this world are not. And God loves them all.

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” – 2 Peter 3:9

So it is time. Now. For me to stop worrying, procrastinating, self-serving…

And find something to DO.

I’m looking for ways to help, to make a difference. Please share if you know of any ways that we can make a difference.

Yes, pray, continuously. But what else? What else can we do? Now?

Harvest is plentiful

“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” -Matthew 9:37

Go to work, Christ-followers.

If not me, if not you…then who?
